I’ve been married for 5 years and I’m 32 years old. I have some single girlfriends that always seem to perceive me as an expert since I was able to get married at 27. I don’t think that is true, but there are certain principles that one should follow if they are serious about a relationship.
1. Always be upfront and honest. Communication is so key in a relationship that people almost take it for granted. Just because you are speaking, doesn’t mean you are communicating.
2. Try to find middle ground on stuff you can’t agree on, even if you think you are right. One of the most important things about a relationship is compromise. That doesn’t mean give in on everything, but do not be stubborn.
3. Try to always go 60%. If two people both are trying to give 60% in a relationship, then both parties feel happy and appreciated.
